Impact

In 2007..

  • NJSBDC network (11 centers) assisted almost 22,000 business owners in 2007.
  • The network helped clients receive $36.5 million in financing (loans and equity investment); almost $2 million in grants was received by science-technology companies through NJSBDC’s technology commercialization program.
  • The network helped clients receive $64.48 million in procurement contracts (federal, state, private/commercial);
  • The network helped its clients create and retain 12,737 jobs and almost 1,000 were newly created jobs;
  • 861 NJSBDC clients started a new business in 2007.
  • NJSBDC helped its clients generate over a half-billion in private sales revenues which returned more than $30 million in sales tax revenues to the State Treasury, not counting the business tax revenues that were returned as a result of helping businesses start and grow their operations.

Since 1979, more than 293,000 people have received direct assistance from the NJSBDC in the form of free, confidential, one-on-one management consulting and affordable education.

Additional funding is provided through the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission and Rutgers Business School: Graduate Programs-Newark and New Brunswick.
